Cause of Death
Completed Fable 5 Experiment, Not a Commercial Thesis
Post-Mortem
Football Slam became a complete, deployed browser football prototype with a deterministic game engine, AI play calling, card and deck systems, a Three.js presentation layer, tutorials, responsive controls, and automated tests. That technical completeness did not represent a validated commercial product: no recorded demand, adoption, revenue, pricing, or distribution evidence established a standalone business. The owner clarified that the fun concept was built primarily to test Fable 5. With that experiment complete, the provisional commercial thesis was killed while the private source repository and playable Vercel build were preserved as technical and portfolio learning.
Lessons Learned
A polished, deployed prototype can successfully validate an AI model's ability to build a coherent game without validating customer demand or creating a reason to operate that game as a commercial product. Portfolio classification should follow the intended experiment and market evidence, not implementation completeness alone.
What I'd Do Differently
Label model-capability builds as experiments before portfolio admission, define the technical questions they are meant to answer, and require separate demand and distribution evidence before promoting a successful prototype into the commercial product line.
